Burnley ViewPoint

Website, Identity, Workshops

Burnley ViewPoint is a hyperlocal journalism project rooted in community participation and co-creation. Born out of work with the Burnley Words Festival, it provides a platform for local writers, artists and residents to share stories that reflect the lived experience of Burnley.

I was invited to design and build the website - a digital home for the project that could grow with its contributors. The site launched in December 2024 and now hosts poetry, photography, and journalism by and for the community. Contributors can easily upload and manage their own work, supporting autonomy and ongoing participation.

Alongside designing and developing the site, I ran a series of workshops in creative writing, journalism, photography, and design - equipping participants with the skills and confidence to shape both the content and direction of the platform. I also delivered Webflow training so the team could independently update and maintain the site going forward.

This project brought together my skills in design, facilitation and community engagement. It reflects my wider practice: creating tools and platforms that enable people to tell their own stories and be recognised on their own terms.
