A digital platform for community journalism in Burnley - designed, built, and handed over.
Burnley ViewPoint is a hyperlocal journalism project built on community participation. Born out of the Burnley Words Festival, it gives local writers, artists and residents a platform to share stories that reflect the lived experience of the town.
I was brought in to design and build the site — a digital home that could grow with its contributors. Alongside the build, I ran workshops in creative writing, journalism, photography and design, giving participants the skills and confidence to shape the platform themselves. The project finished with Webflow training so the team could manage and update the site independently.
The site launched in December 2024. It now hosts poetry, photography and journalism by and for the community.
Supported by Levelling Up, Burnley Council, Burnley Words Festival, and Burnley Leisure & Culture.
